This is where the column starts. Leave your letter here. LeAnn chooses one, reads it the whole way through, and answers it in the Meeting Room.

Write in the language your heart uses — LeAnn reads every chosen letter and answers in English. To read her answer in your language, use the “Read this in your language” button on the answer’s page.

Tell the truth as you understand it. Use a made-up name and leave out identifying details — yours and anyone else’s. If LeAnn chooses your letter, her public column will be the reply. No private reply is sent, and not every letter can be chosen. No politics, no religion, no health questions, no crime, no violence. Some humor is welcome — always real.

Protect Yourself

Use made-up names. Leave out employers, schools, addresses, and details that could identify you or someone else. Complete anonymity cannot be guaranteed by anyone, so please keep identifying details out of the letter itself.

What LeAnn Does

LeAnn tells you what she honestly sees. She may name the truth beneath your question, the choice you are avoiding, and what continuing to avoid it may cost. She will never make the choice for you.

What This Room Is Not

Ask LeAnn is not therapy, emergency help, medical care, legal guidance, or private counseling. No crime, no violence, and no letters asking how to hurt somebody — those are never answered. Letters involving immediate danger, minors, or accusations against identifiable people may not be published. If you are in danger, the numbers at the bottom of this page are for you, any hour.

Sending this means you are all right with your letter possibly being published on this site, read aloud, or shared — publicly, where the whole room can read it.

Publication is never guaranteed, and no private reply is ever sent. Every published letter is personally selected, read, and answered by LeAnn — she tries to answer one each day, so most letters are received and not published.

This is not private counseling, and no private reply is promised — whether or not your letter is chosen.

If your letter is chosen, LeAnn may edit it for length, clarity, or grammar, and may change identifying detail — without changing what you meant.

Names, places, employers, schools, timelines, occupations, family structures, and small habits of speech may be changed or removed to protect your privacy — the feeling of your story stays exactly what it was. Complete anonymity cannot be guaranteed by anyone, so please leave identifying details out of the letter itself.

You will be signed with a pseudonym — the one you picked above, or one LeAnn assigns if you leave it blank.

You can withdraw your letter any time before it is published, no questions asked. If you want it removed after it runs, that follows the house’s stated removal policy.

Your email is optional and is never displayed publicly, no matter what.

If needed, your anonymized letter may be translated so LeAnn can read it — an outside translation service may process the anonymized text for that purpose, and nothing more. AI does not answer your letter, and it never edits your words. Only after LeAnn writes her complete response may technology help tighten HER words for clarity, and she personally reviews and approves every published word.

Letters that identify a minor, describe an ongoing court case, or name accusations against a real, identifiable person are edited before anything is published, or not published at all.

LeAnn selects one real question Monday through Friday to answer. Not every letter can be chosen — but if yours is selected, you will know a real person read it and answered it honestly. Letters come from everywhere — write in your own language; the truth translates. This is a column, not a correspondence: LeAnn does not write back privately, and there is no comment section. One letter, one answer, for everyone. Submissions are not handled first-come, first-served, and sending a letter does not guarantee an answer — she simply tries to answer one Monday through Friday. If a letter is cruel or written to wound, she can simply decline it. And no letter is too complicated for this room — doctors and professors carry the same heartaches as everybody else — bring it as it is.
