What this site collects when you write: your letter, a pseudonym, an optional email address, your age confirmation, a record of your consent, withdrawal credentials, and the technical request information any website receives (such as network addresses, used for security and rate limiting). When subscriptions open, subscribers will also provide account and payment-related information, processed by the payment provider. There are no advertising trackers, no analytics profiles, and no selling of anything you write.

If you leave an email address, it is sealed in its own locked drawer, separate from your letter, and is never published, shown, or written to. A letter chosen for the column appears under a made-up name.

Withdrawing your letter before publication removes the letter and its sealed contact from the active systems promptly; short-lived security backups age out on a rolling basis within about two weeks. LeAnn may also delete an unpublished letter at her desk the same way. After publication, see the removal policy in the Terms.

If you use the “Read this in your language” button, the page’s English text is sent to an outside translation service to make your reading — nothing about you travels with it. If a letter arrives in another language, its anonymized text may be translated the same way so LeAnn can read it.
