The Letter — an opened envelope on a writing table by the window: one letter, chosen and carried into the room

The Letter

This is the letter LeAnn chose today. One letter runs at a time, in the writer’s own words, so the room reads exactly what she read.

The Letter · August 10, 2026 · “Why Do I Stay”
Dear LeAnn, my name is "Hard to Walk Away." I have been married for nineteen years. And over the past three it has been like living with a stranger. I keep asking myself why do I stay with him? I am not happy, and from the looks of things, I am sure he is not either. We are not intimate anymore. We do not talk anymore. But I have stayed anyway. Why do I not just leave? Why am I still here? I am trying to figure out what is the purpose.

LeAnn has read it. Her reply is waiting. The Meeting Room
